Course Information

The CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support prepares students for a rewarding career supporting people in aged care, disability support, and community care settings.

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who work under supervision as part of a multidisciplinary team, providing person-centred support to people who require assistance due to ageing, disability, or other individual needs.

Students will develop practical skills and industry knowledge required to provide quality care services while promoting independence, wellbeing, dignity, and inclusion.

Overview

This qualification will be delivered over 52 weeks, including:

  • 40 weeks of study and assessment
  • 12 weeks of scheduled holidays
  • 120 hours of mandatory work placement

This program will be delivered through a variety of modes to ensure comprehensive learning:

  • Face-to-face training
  • Online supervised study
  • Simulated workplace learning
  • Work placement

Academic & Age

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Have completed Australian Year 11 or equivalent
  • Be able to undertake mandatory work placement

English Proficiency

Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency equivalent to:

IELTS: 6.0*
PTE: 50
CAE: 169
OET: Grade C
Duolingo: 95

* IELTS 6.0 with no band below 5.0. Also accepts General English Advanced or MOI Certificate.

Students are required to complete:

  • 120 hours of mandatory industry work placement
  • The placement provides practical experience in real workplace environments and helps prepare students for employment within the aged care and disability sectors.

Upon successful completion, students may progress to:

  • CHC43015 - Certificate IV in Ageing Support
  • CHC43121 - Certificate IV in Disability Support
  • CHC52021 - Diploma of Community Services

Students may also pursue further higher education pathways.
